National Observances

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Minority Health (OMH) commemorates several national observances each year to highlight health-related issues impacting the populations we serve, including racial and ethnic minority populations and American Indians and Alaska Natives (AI/AN). These observances provide an opportunity to share reliable, data-driven information and resources that can help improve health outcomes and ensure that all individuals, families, and communities are healthy and thriving.

Through evidence-based resources, practical tools, and targeted information, HHS OMH is supporting prevention efforts that help families live longer, healthier lives and support the Administration’s mission to Make America Healthy Again. HHS OMH is prioritizing disease prevention and measurable health outcomes to enhance the well-being of racial and ethnic minority and American Indian/Alaska Natives and support better health for all Americans. More information and resources, such as the updated Dietary Guidelines for Americans, related to each observance are added to the HHS OMH website throughout the year.
