CAPT Danny Nguyen is the Deputy Director of Operations in the Office of Minority Health (OMH) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). In this capacity, CAPT Nguyen has oversight for all administrative and management functions in OMH.

Prior to joining OMH, CAPT Nguyen served as the Deputy Executive Officer for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) providing executive leadership, direction and operational guidance for all management and administrative programs areas within the agency. Prior to his appointment in SAMHSA, CAPT Nguyen served in a number of regulatory, policy, compliance and enforcement leadership and managerial roles within the FDA.

CAPT Nguyen is a pharmacist by education and his pharmacy background includes clinical pharmacy with a concentration on infectious disease, long-term care pharmacy, infusion therapy, and community-based pharmacy. His business management background includes strategic marketing and operational management, human capital management, organizational design and transformation, project management, and IT management and governance. Before joining the FDA in 2002 as a Commissioned Officer with the USPHS, he held various staff, leadership and management level positions within and outside of the pharmacy realm.

He also has more than 16 years public health and business management experience in the government and 10 years of healthcare and administrative management experience in the private sector.
