Section 5: Evaluation and Follow-up

One of the most important objectives of the Baby Buggy Walk in the Park is to promote behavior change. We strongly recommend conducting a survey of event attendees in order to evaluate the event and gauge its effectiveness in encouraging attendees to assess their current health habits and think about adopting new ones.

Participant Survey

To ensure you get the best response rate and ensure you can capture as much "real-time" feedback as possible:

  • Distribute your participant survey at the event, near the end. Sending out your survey after the event is over – even by email – will greatly reduce your response rate.
  • Keep the survey simple and easy to read. Limit to no more than five questions and aim for a completion time frame of 3-4 minutes.
  • If possible, tie responses to an incentive, such as a raffle for a gift card or other prize.

Here are a few things to remember after your event:

  • Send thank you letters to your planning committee, staff, volunteers, sponsors and special guests.
  • Consider sending a follow-up message with a feedback survey to your vendors.
  • Collect all final receipts for your expense report and do a budget reconciliation.
  • Follow up with interested media who did not come to the event.
  • Plan a debrief with your planning committee and staff.
  • Most importantly, remember to HAVE FUN planning and hosting your Baby Buggy Walk in the Park!
