Abstract

The Nevada Office of Minority Health's (NOMH) State Partnership Program intends to reduce the incidence and prevalence of type 2 diabetes in African Americans, Hispanic/Latino Americans, and American Indians in Nevada. To this end, NOMH will survey organizations with diabetes programs to assess whether their program strategies are either prevention or diagnosis-based. It will also send surveys to program participants. NOMH will then analyze survey data and present their findings to the organizations along with the recommendations for program improvement. Finally, NOMH will offer technical assistance for evidence-based program development and implementation, as well as trainings for improving cultural and linguistic competency. An expected outcome includes an increase in capacity for providing diabetes services to the target populations. In order to determine if this outcome is reached, data will be collected on a range of performance measures, including the percentage of assessments completed and the number of recommendations being adopted.
