Massachusetts FY10 State Partnership Grant Program to Improve Minority Health $140,000 Georgia Simpson May (617) 624-5590 Georgia.simpson.may@state.ma.us
The Massachusetts State Partnership Program will continue the implementation of the National Standards for Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS). CLAS are a set of suggestions primarily designed for health care organizations to provide culturally and linguistically appropriate health care. The focus of the program will be on improving the consistency of health data collection for minority populations, as well as increasing the application of CLAS standards by health and human service organizations. This project will develop and implement tools and trainings to support local organizations' CLAS implementation efforts. It will also sustain and develop partnerships that address health disparities. The intended outcome includes increasing the number of organizations engaged in minority health data collection training as well as CLAS training. Program data will be collected and analyzed regularly to determine if the projects are on track and reaching their intended outcomes.
