The mission of the Nevada Office of Minority Health is to improve the quality of health care services for members of minority groups; to increase access to health care services; to seek ways to provide education; and to address, treat and prevent diseases and conditions that are prevalent among minority populations.
Project Abstract
The Nevada Office of Minority Health National CLAS Standards and Minority Insurance Enrollment Program consists of two projects: the Statewide Project on National CLAS Standards Adoption and the Project to Increase Health Insurance Enrollment in Racial and Ethnic Minority Populations. The Statewide Project on National CLAS Standards Adoption will modify the state of Maryland Office of Minority Health’s CLAS Primer for use in Nevada. The Nevada Office of Minority Health will provide technical assistance to private and public health care agencies on the National CLAS Standards to improve statewide inclusion of the standards in health care strategic planning. The Project to Increase Health Insurance Enrollment in Racial and Ethnic Minority Populations will increase the number of racial and ethnic minority Nevadans with health insurance by 25,000 in each year of the grant. Targeting health care agencies, health care professionals and minority groups, this project seeks to facilitate access to health insurance for minority community members and increase the use of the National CLAS Standards. Using qualitative and quantitative data collection through technical assistance, pre- and post-intervention surveys and database tracking, the project will determine the evidence of the interventions’ effectiveness. Objectives
