The Advisory Group, co-chaired by OMH and HSC is comprised of 22 members, who are leaders and experts on the fields of healthy schools food and environments. View the list of the Advisory Group members in Appendix 1.
The Advisory Group deliverables include collect and share promising practices, policy recommendations, tools and advice for effectively implementing the USDA's HealthierUS School Challenge in low-income minority schools across the country; issue a report of findings drawn from content shared at inaugural meeting, lessons learned through implementation of the grant program, additional research, and ongoing input from advisory committee members; broadly disseminate and share findings with a variety of audiences and stakeholders including the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health and other federal agencies.
The responsibilities of the Work Group include:
- Hold by-monthly conference calls
- Discuss the process
- Present a progress report from their mentees.
- Develop the RFP.
- Evaluate the applications and select the winning proposals
- Mentor one of the ALC sites throughout the process, and help them with the report on progress, the evaluation process, etc.
- Review final report on the ALC and three mid course reports.
- Serve as spokespersons for the ALC and the issue of healthy school environments and food in the subsequent year as we promote the models for implementation.
