Overview
The advisory committee advises the Secretary of Health and Human Services on ways to improve the health of racial and ethnic minority populations, and on the development of goals and program activities within the Department.
The Advisory Committee on Minority Health, created by the Health Professions Education Partnerships Act of 1998 (PL 105-392).
Voting members shall be appointed by the Secretary from among individuals who are not officers or employees of the Federal Government and who have expertise regarding issues of minority health. The racial and ethnic minority groups shall be equally represented among such members.
The Committee is expected to meet four times a year. Meetings are normally open to the public. This website will have dates and agendas for all the meetings.

The HHS Advisory Committee on Minority Health has published their recommendations for improving the public health, overall, and increasing health equity, which they suggest can be met through the establishment of federal health equity commission that would focus on sustainable progress in these areas.
